Many of those Japanese deserters became trainers to help Viet Minh in the war against the French, not against the American. They started to return to Japan when Vietnam became 2 nations. Yes I just saw an article, " The contribution of our new VietNam citizens, the Japaneses, in the war against the French" Thank you for sharing your curiosity:)))
