Sir, please kindly keep your language civil. Thank you. icon_smile.gif

Oh I hope VN will win. It would be a big slap in China's face.

Asian soccer? Boringgg. China should focus more on their basketball team. Their soccer players should be turned into waterboys for the basketball team who are actually getting somewhere.

You might not like basketball, but it's a major international sport where an Asian country (China) has a decent ranking that continues to move up, currently ranked in the top 10 and higher than a lot of good teams such as Russia, Brazil, France, Croatia, Canada, Slovenia, all who have many players in the NBA. Sorry, but i'd rather focus on sports where the countries playing can actually compete on the global level.

I stop watching basketball since Dennis Rodman retired icon_smile.gif.

China rules! Thank you

The Chinese national team is psychologically negative after their poor season in 2008, I hope Vietnam can gain something from that and beat the Chinese in their home soil.

Go Vietnam! icon_smile.gif

Vietnamese team is in a limbo right now because in the next match against China, we will not have our 2 best players, Cong Vinh (red card) and Thanh Binh (taking absence leave to get married) icon_neutral.gif

WTF! No other time to have the wedding? (Unless he is of Chinese descent therefore prefer to abstain?)
Happy Asian
Phan Thanh Binh is already married, but Vietnam still have other players to step in to do the job.

Agreed. In addition to that, by underestimating Vietnam, China will probably rush to dominate the game early on and will subsequently fall into the counter-attacking traps of Vietnam. So there are chances Vietnam will win by 2 goal difference. beerchug.gif

Don't follow soccer that close, but go Viet team!!!

Hey I don't know those mosquito eating Vietnamese can play soccer.

In the first half, China vs Vitnam is 4 to 1.
henrypan123
Finally, China beat Vietnam 6 to 1.
Happy Asian
The game ended 6-1 in China's favour. It amazes me that Vietnam even scored on Chinese soil, and against a team that is vastly superior to our own both in terms of technical skill and physical stature. But than again Vietnam was severely disadvantaged due to the absense of several key players (Le Cong Vinh, Duong Hong Son and Phan Thann Binh), and is largely strangers to the local climate. In the second leg of the qualifiers, the Chinese will be welcome by the Vietnamese heat.
Qkhanh
Wow that was one sided
Happy Asian
^That was like the worst defeat Vietnam suffered in living memory, but it was against a vastly superior opponent so I can easily sleep on it.

No excuse really, apart from the very $hit goal keeper, Duc Cuong, and the defense line and midfielder like Tai Em seemed to be TOO comfortable with the ball. China deserved the win nicely. We indeed owe an apology to countries in the region. I can imagine headlines tomorrow will be something like "East Asian minnow thrashed South East Asian Champ", that's sux. That goal keeper should cut off his own balls and become an eunuch, fu-king too amateurish in front of the goal line.

Duc Cuong is $hit indeed, only a benchwarmer for Duong Hong Son. You must remember Vietnam do not owe the ASEAN region anything, Singapore have three ASEAN trophies in their name but they werent able to quality for the Asian Cup in the last 15 years. In reality the ASEAN Cup only worth something to ASEAN countries, but outside of the region the tournament can be considered a joke. Only Thailand can make some real impact in these qualifiers because they have the real quality to do that, with or without the ASEAN title.

I agree. Despite losing our 3 best players, but we are losing to a team like China by 5 goals? Come on, there is no excuse here.

In a match like this, why were the key Viet players allowed to be absent??? I remember during the past Olympic, that Chinese basketball player, Ming, played until he almost dropped from exhaustion for the Chinese team. Kể cả tinh thần dân tộc cũng có nổi sao? Chán thật! confused.gif

is there any highlights of the game anywhere on thr net?

Learn some facts first:
The best striker Le Cong Vinh was not allowed to play because he got red cards in the Lebanon match
The 2nd best striker Pham Thanh Binh is taking an absence leave to get married and he requested this months in advance
The best goalie could not go because he got injured.
luumanh
wth no le cong vinh?
zanggg
he got a red card ,and Hong Son has a pain in his leg
oh man, we lack 2 important player
DanchoiDalat
not that cong vinh, hong son et al could've changed the ugly outcome anyway. hope is with the hagl-asernal generation and thereafter...
Vietnamese1300
Our next opponent is Syria, which is a better team than China. I want to see Vietnam put Lee Nguyen (can we do that ? biggthumpup.gif ) in along with Cong Vinh and Hong Son and see how it turns out.

If I were this guy, I would request my bride to be to postpone a few more weeks. (Maybe he knew it was hopeless anyway?) Tinh thần dân tộc ở chỗ đó. Didn't he think his team's morality would increase vastly had he remained w/ them?! I am curious about it because I am not into soccer. I don't know the Viet players that well.
