North Korea threatened Thursday to turn Japan into a "nuclear sea of fire" if the United States attacks it with nuclear weapons, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported, quoting a North Korean newspaper report.

Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of North Korea's Workers Party of Korea, said U.S. military bases in Japan would come under its attack in the event of a nuclear war. (One of the primary reasons these americans need to go.)

"If the United States ignites a nuclear war, the U.S. military bases in Japan would serve as a detonating fuse to turn Japan into a nuclear sea of fire," the paper said in an article, according to Yonhap.

The article claimed that the danger of a nuclear war in Northeast Asia keeps escalating as a result of Washington's push to realign its military presence in this part of the world.

"The U.S. selection of Japan as the most important vantage point in implementing its Korean and Asian military strategy is designed to put into practice its long-range attack strategy," it said.

The threat comes as Japanese and U.S. reconnaissance information indicate that North Korea may be preparing to test-fire either a Rodong or a Taepodong ballistic missile or conduct a missile engine combustion test, Japanese government sources said Thursday. (I cannot wait for them to fire this god damn weapon.)

The data, mainly from radio and U.S. reconnaissance satellites around the middle of last week, has led the Japanese government to set up an ad hoc office at the Prime Minister's Office and send aircraft, an Aegis-equipped destroyer and other vessels to the Sea of Japan to gather further information. I love it. North korea just doesn't know when to stop. I think thats perhaps why I find them so amusing. Or maybe it's why I hate them so much. I really cannot tell anymore. In anycase I havent been watching any stations so I am not certain how japanese leadership is taking latetest one. However I am sure ishihara is having a good time with this. The NK's give us plenty of rope to hang them with.

IT's times like this that makes me pissed off at the fact that the U.S. is still in control of our military matters. If Japan rearmed, there'd be no doubt that we could take those North Korean morons out. GOD if the US is going to occupy our military atleast they can do something useful like drop a few nukes over Kim's pathetic @$$.

I'm not angry at the north koreans building nukes, i'm angry if the norht koreans use the nukes to threaten asian countries, places like japan and south korea. And i would be more angry if japan is stupid enough to help the usa in getting rid of north korea.

Agreed. if USA does attack North Korea, there will be WW3 because North Korea will be backed by China and Russia. You have to remember that all three of those countries have nuclear weapons.
