You always make irrelevant posts and try to promote your "austronesian-ness". We're not very interested sorry (even though I'm 1/4 Malay). Just go and preach it elsewhere where it is more relevant... like in the Philippines forum. sure.gif

actually the best example of Austronesian brotherhood, is through the Festival of Austronesian Cultures, which is celebrated on Taitung, Taiwan.

QUOTE
2003 Festival of Austronesian Cultures in Taitung, Taiwan

Dates :  2002/12/21 ~ 12/31
Place :  Taitung County
Sponsors :  Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Education, Council for Cultural Affairs, Council of Indigenous Peoples
Organizer :  Taitung County Government, National Museum of Prehistory
Associate :  IOV Taiwan

Among the various tribes around the world, the range of distribution of the Austronesians is the second only to Indo-European tribes. The distance they cover from the east to the west is over half of the earth's circumference, covering from the Easter Island in the western shore of South America in the east, from the Madagascar in the eastern Africa in the west, from the southern area of New Zealand in the south, and the northern shore of Taiwan in the north. According to the Australian archeologist, Mr. Peter Bellwood's research, it shows that the Austronesian languages of Taiwan's aborigine peoples contain many ancient language elements, Taiwan is viewed as the homeland of Austronesian languages and possibly even the place where the Austronesian people originated.

The third "Festival of Austronesian Cultures in Taitung", designated as one the Twelve Major Local Festivals in Taiwan, is held at the National Museum of Prehistory in Taitung. Attractions include the Exhibition of Austronesian Musical Instruments, Tribal Experience Camp, Flotsam Creation of Installation Art, and Ceramic Creations

Some of the most popular events of the festival are the music and dance performances by visiting Austronesian cultural groups. As the international coordinator, IOV Taiwan invited groups from the four major Austronesian cultural regions: Indonesia, Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia, including performers from Madagascar, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Cook Islands and Easter Island. The most special thing about the festival this year is that it provided a rare opportunity for groups from the westernmost (Madagascar) and easternmost (Easter Island) areas of Austronesian culture to come together for a grand exchange of experiences with Taiwan's aborigine peoples in Taitung.

My take on Vietnamese, that would be the language, is that first, it's like putting one spider web on top of another going deeper and deeper into this vortex....
Or it's like the strings of a harp. All so close together (representing the fact that pratically every V. word has 20 to 50 words that sound almost just like it... not counting the 6 variations of tone on each one of those different words represented by) six different pedals which can be applied to each of the different strings of the harp....
Words like good-bad, fresh-spoil, push-pull etc. sound very close...

speaking of language.. it makes u guys more french then vietnamese
Preydominator
LOL, are you a french & vietnamese linguist? With the same logic chinese written in Pinyin is more english than chinese. Except the alphabet, they share nothing in common.
blueflame95050
I am sure we all have pride and think that our motherland is superior. So I'll forego the nationalistic stuff.

For me, it is about the emotions behind the language when I speak it or when I listen to it. I have been in the US for more than 1/3 of my life, yet when I speak Vienamese, the depth of the emotions are greater than when I speak English. The words of Vietnamese music is more in touch with heart when I listen to it.

When I look at the photos and sceeneries from Vietnam, I feel peace in my heart, although I have never been to any one of thoses places.

I am drawn to anything Vietnamese. Thus the reason I am on this forum posting and listening to my countrymen and women voice their opinions.

and much more...
Sideley
I am vietnamese because I feel moved when I hear a Cải lương tune coming from vicinity by a hot and wet afternoon, when a hear a vietnamese voice. I feel vietnamese because of that land, these smells, those peaceful people. I feel anger when that land is spoiled, when vietnamese people are despised.... All these reasons make me vietnamese.

My friend, whatever your origin is, you may be born to chinese or austronesian or other parents, you are vietnamese if vietnamese language means to you. You're vietnamese if you can't spend a day without thingking of the fate of this land and its people.

see.. we dont' write pinyin.........
Preydominator
It's an example not mean in general, you don't write it but sure some people do write it down, not everyone use keyboard/PC, Pinyin is born long before PC get in common. Just an example for chinowei who apparently don't know much about vietnamese/french.
