Families of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea and their supporters renewed their demand Friday that the Japanese government impose economic sanctions on North Korea in pursuit of a complete resolution of the abduction issue.

Friday marked the second anniversary of the first-ever Japan-North Korea summit, which paved the way for the repatriation of five Japanese citizens North Korean agents abducted in 1978.
