So did we have a naval military?? I hardly ever heard of it in history books, but I do believe Vietnam does have a naval military since Vietnam is a costal nation. We probably had some naval wars with the Chams too.. Anybody got information about that?

Ngo Quyen. Duh. Hell his picture of him defeating the Chinese navy is the symbol of the Vietnamese Navy Insignia.

Well I know that but its more like a trap to me. I mean like some real battle where two ships fighting together.

Negative on that. The only real battles were Bach Dang battles; one by Ngo Quyen, and the other by Tran Hung Dao.

The Ly did send a naval fleet to current day Da Nang harbour to punish the Chams, but they failed.
