Hmmm...perhap this is a payback to VN for sending a $hitload of tourists to the islands without any consultation with its neighbors.

China and the Philippines last week announced a three-year project to gather data on petroleum resources around the Spratlys.
The potentially oil-rich Spratly islands are claimed in whole or in part by Brunei, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

the philippines is just exploring its islands. vietnam has no legitimate business in the pacific ocean. vietnamese are not island people. they trying to steal land like they stole champa.

vietnamese are not historically a seafaring people, but they are expansionist into southeast asia mainland stealing people land, we should be concern about their attempt to invade the ocean. i dont want them as my island nieghboor. they're should be a big sea to seperate those people from us.

How far is the Spratlys from Pinas. I might agree with you an little if they would be really near the Philippines.

Err...but the Chams weren't nice to the Khmers either. They sacked Angkor tthree times. So, we retaliated. Anyway, yeah it would had been nice if Champa and Kampuchea made a pack.

Yeah but we were there first. Sorry if it's closer to the Phillipines. Our country had it first and the airport that was built by South Vietnam is still on one of those islands.
The rule is first come, first serve, so eat it. We occupy the majority of the islands and there is nothing you can do about it.

It's funny how no other countries claims those Islands except for Vietnam when oil wasn't believe to be underneath it but when there's a possibility that there's oil underneath those Islands then other countries starts making claims to those Islands.

Actually China has claimed them on several occassions. I believe Qing China claimed them as early as 1905, the ROC again reaffirmed their claim somewhere in the 1930's and actually seized some islands in 1947 I believe(which they still hold). The PRC also claimed the islands for a while and only seized the paracels from South Vietnam in 74 was it? Pretty much all of this was before oil was discovered. The Phillipines claim is from the 1950's I believe, oil didn't start the territorial dispute, it just enhanced it.

Did you know Vietnam plans to license Cam Ranh Bay to the American fleet?
The Americans have said the Spratly's is too important for them to ignore. I wouldn't mind giving them 50% of the oil of the majority of the islands we do occupy to counter your alliance.
With American and Phillipines relations becoming sour, this is the perfect opportunity to get more American influence.

I oppose American present in this area. In fact, I want America to stop worry about the world. we should pull all our troops back and say to hell with the world. America gave away more 1.5 trillions to the world and got hate back. We should keep all our resource home to build a better America.
You can keep your Spratly and showel it anywhere you wanted. Haha...

Sorry America offered $50 million a year to rent out Cam Ranh Bay. But I think the Vietnamese so far aren't interested and want Cam Ranh Bay as a tourist place.

lol if we don't have a navy then why do we have the most troops on those islands?
Also add to the fact there is a U.S fleet nearby to make sure no one plays dirty since all sides signed some non-hostile agreement.

Not my problem, you were forced to by the U.S. Since your country joined in the Vietnam War, so you can get economic aid from the U.S. So countries that kissed up and helped the U.S usually ended up having to take South Vietnamese refugees on order from the U.S. I'm sure the economic aid the U.S got for joining the coalition in that war mean the Phillipines made a profit.
