One of my friend, who is a Viet international studying in the US.
He came to US to study.
Atm, he has a Bachelor of Finance and is studying for a Master and will graduate next year.
He asked me if i know any way to help him gains Green Card (aka pernament residency).

Just to let you know.
International students who came to US to study have to return to their homeland after graduation
NO QUESTION, NO EXCEPTION, NO EXCUSE!

So im asking you if you know any way, beside FAKE MARRIAGES
A lot of Viet internationals asked me this question.

I barely know any Viet students who came to US and then go back to Vietnam.
How did they ended up staying?
TINMAN
He should apply for an H-1B visa (work visa).

I believe the visa is good for 3 yrs but can be extended up to 6 yrs maximum.

Once he has a work visa, he should ask his employer/corporation to sponsor his application for a green card.

This should be the way that they do. Try to study hard and buy books to read about how to do good in interviews, then apply for a job and ask the employer to sponsor for their H1-B visa. Some employer will pay for it, some don't. Thus be prepared to pay for the filing fee. Aslo there are different services when filing: expedited services where you have to pay more but it's faster. Consult with an immigration attorney on these matter, don't go to the Vietnamese services, they are not lawyers most of them, rather they are just legal consultants.

The worst scenario for them is to try research online about some immigration law firms in Canada where they offer to help you find a job and stay in Canada. At least for temporarily, they can work and utilize their knowledge before they go back and contribute to Vietnam.

I don't encourage everyone to stay here and not go back after finish their study. However, I think they should try to get a job here and learn to gain knowledge, work attitudes before they go back. I hope everything goes well for them.

Don't enter into a fake marriage, most of them will turn out to be bad and will make you become a different person, in a bad way. Also, it's illegal icon_smile.gif, remember that.

Oh, I forgot to add that, after graduating from school, every international student can apply for a practical training permit which allows them to work for a short period of time (before it was 1 year, I don't know about now). They should take this time to try to get a job. Planning ahead is always a good idea, don't be stupid and wait until the last minute. This is the problem that I see with alot of Viet students, outside of school, they are pretty much stupid, they don't have any social skills or any planning at all. So don't be like the tyical, try to plan ahead and be active.

first off, any Viet that can afford to study in the state is not an ordinary Viet, the proceeder to leave vietnam in any occasion even to study in the US are that you must register everything you own that include your property, home, car, everything in your procession, and even bank account with mucha cash in there, for them to even consider for you to leave vietnam to the US, in case you don't come back they will take everything you own, but not everybody qualify even with money and property.
if that is not the case he or she must be VIET CONG CON to be able to go study in the US, commie are wicket kinda of people, if they let everybody go anywhere they like people would never return back to Vietnam, if its just cost them a plane ticket to travel everybody would be traveling already don't you think? their parent, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, etc....would send them a ticket and it would be a one way ticket.

if you can afford to study in the US you definitely don't need my help, if you are a viet cong con don't even bother to ask for help and fake marriages...."help the people that need help and not the one that bend the rule of law"......

Any Vietnamese who wants to immigrate to countries like Canada, France, or Australia only need to show to their prospective countries that they would immigrate to have several million dollars in liquid assets then they are approved for the green card right away. I know this is the policy of many developed countries for accepting immigrants. Vietnam has a service that offer to process immigrant paper work for people if they can show that they have a certain amount of money

The "viet cong con" that you are talking about are definitely not the "con ong chau cha" type, because if they do, they would not even bother to get help from anyone. The price for staying in the U.S is even cheaper, only several hundred thousand dollars as far as I've heard, if you can show the U.S authorities that you have that money

you have the money to leave vietnam, and the host country will let you migrate to their country if you have the cash....but, but will the commie let you go is another question, unless you already out of the country and decided to overstay.

most of them migrate to Canada and make their way down to the US.

pardon me but what does this mean? "con ong chau cha" maybe im reading it wrong or im not familiar with this term

This person is out of touch with the reality. Bring your hatred somewhere else. People come here with a question, if you can't come up with an answer then shut up. This is also a specifc example of jealousy.
I have many friends who come here to study and their parents have nothing to do with the governments. Some of their parents served in South Vietnam Government, but their military ranks did not qualify for the HO categories. Now they are here and they don't want to involve with politics, still they got labeled by people like this guy who keeps carrying the hatred.
You have to show proof of financial support before you go, but no one will take your property if you decide to stay here. When he used the word "they", then who are they?
Don't recommend your friend to overstay his visa, it will get him into trouble. Also, why would he want to do that, if he stays here and just be like this guy, then he should go back and work.

It's ok if he chooses to stay and get a job to use what he learns.
It will help him later on when he wants to go back. I had friends who went back right away and found out that the work environment was really bad for them to learn and their skills got rusty.
The US still is the best place to learn, but if you want to prove yourself then everywhere is your place.

The financial sector is bad now, but I myself is going to go back to school for an MBA soon, or maybe a new major called Financial Engineering. When the financial sector picks up, I will be ready for new opportunities. A combination of my current work skills and future learning skills will really help me to land very exciting jobs in Vietnam later on.
Work hard, learn and contribute to the US, but always remember that for now, Vietnam needs you more than the US.
