VietNamNet - Japanese and Vietnamese archaeologists have found rare items at an excavation at the Ho Dynasty Citadel in Vinh Loc District, Thanh Hoa Province.
Archaeologist excavated 46.5sq.m of land at the highest area in the citadel, the foundation of the Nhan Tho Palace where the king lived, and the Hoang Nguyen Palace where kings of the Ho and Tran dynasties held audience, according to historical books.
Archaeologists have found significant vestiges there including four pillars made of gravel and two overlapped brick foundations, postulated as the foundations of one palace.
They have unearthed a stone with lotus patterns at the size of 68x68x40cm, forming the support of a pillar. According to archaeologists, based on the size of this support stone, the pillar must have been a massive support structure.
Other items found during this excavation include an assortment of bricks, two 1m long patterned stone bars, a sullage pit covered by bricks of 26x48x9cm size.
