Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will make a pitch for Japan to get a permanent U.N. Security Council seat and meet with related leaders, including U.S. President George W Bush, on Sept 21 in New York as part of an 11-day tour this month, government officials said Monday.

During the trip to start Sept 13, Koizumi will also travel to Brazil and Mexico before New York for his first summit talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Sept 16 and to sign a bilateral free trade agreement with Mexico the following day.
