From my own experience, the vast majority of overseas Viets aren't actually ethnic Vietnamese but usually majority Chinese/Hoa and some Khmer Krom or Cham or something else. I cannot gather up the data on this, but I think the majority are a different ethnic group and not actually Vietnamese.

No wonder they have different mentality from Vietnamese. Now we all know why.

Instead of saying fighting the viet/kinh, they use "communists" to mean the viet/kinh.

That explains why they wave the three stripes flags and against the current government; they're not Vietnamese (Kinh).

ahhh the beauty of racism; the belief of a certain kind of person is morally and or intellectually inferior to people like you. It involves you likening yourself to one set of strangers because of how they look. They look the same as you therefore they must share the same value, belief, ethic and morality. The most childish form of classification because it's easy and obvious and it involves a great deal of denial and clinginess on your part. What's the big deal anyway? b/c if you're a southern Vietnamese there's a great chance that you'll have Khmer/Cham/Chinese blood. So don't complaint...unless you're a Northern Vietnamese.

methinks, just because you're mixed with chinese and trying to state a silly observation. most of my friends are pure viets and a few are mixed.

I believe there was already a study by the US Census Bureau which broke it down...in some threads a few months ago that discusses annual incomes, college level, etc.

there's a chance that most of us in here have khmer blood ~ but that wouldn't make us less Vietnamese than others as long as we consider ourselves Vietnamese.
