A lawmakers' group has criticized the government's decision to give food aid to North Korea, saying it was regrettable that the move was made before the North provides Japan with the results of reinvestigations into the fates of 10 missing Japanese.

"We deeply regret that the decision was made before confirming the whereabouts of the 10 abduction victims," the bipartisan group on the abduction issue said in a statement adopted at an executive meeting.
