Laos-Thailand future co-operation on Employment discussed

(KPL) The employment co-operation in the future between Laos and Thailand was discussed last week at the ministerial meeting on labour held in Vientiane.
The meeting jointly chaired by Lao Labour and Social-Welfare Minister Onchan Thammavong and her Thai counterpart Mrs. Oulayvanh Thienthong has also reviewed their past years co-operation, especially their co-operation MoU signed in 2002, which was the fundamental principle for the employment between Laos and Thailand.
The sides informed each other on their respective issues including the illegal workers of Laos to Thailand and the policy of Thailand for foreign workers.
During the meeting, the sides has also agreed to allow the organisation concern from two sides to further discuss about the import and export of legal labour based on the principle of MoU and continue to implement the resolutions of the 4th Lao-Thai senior officials meeting held in Konekene province of Thailand. The meeting also talked about the measures to address the problems for 14,000 illegal Lao workers who are still working in Thailand.
The results of the meeting was considered as a milestone success in implementing the MoU on employment co-operation in the past five years and confirmed that the labour co-operation between Laos and Thailand has been constantly improved.
