I LUV MONEY
Hello, I would like to know what's the average salary in Singapore? Is it hard to get around without a car?

The reason why I'm asking this is I might go to Singapore. I got my business degree in the U.S recently and planning to move to Canada in a couple of years. So meanwhile, I would like to gain experience in another country besides the U.S. If you do get hired, do they train you in specific ways? What's the primary language do they speak? What's there to do around there? How many hours do people work each week?

I'd appreciate it if there are people that have knowledge on this kind of stuff. Thank You for your time.

Singapore has an excellent transportation system, so u don't have to worry about getting a car. U cld get one eventually if u want to as prices of cars are dropping over there, but like I said, with an excellent transportation system, why would u need to? save the money for some shopping or hitting up the beaches of Bali and Phuket- very cheap!

They speak English in Singapore, majority speak Chinese as a 2nd language, so if u can speak Mandarin, then excellent. If u don't, it's totally fine. Knowledge of a foreign language(like French, German etc) is desirable but not needed. As long as u know English, u'll survive.

Training wise, it depends on the company..some will train u, some won't..so it depends. ask during the interviews.

working hours..pretty much the same as the States Mon-Fri 8/9 to 5. Most bosses tend to not want u to do OT unless its for some big project. Some companies have a half-day Saturday work day or alternate Sats, but most don't.

What's there to do? Erm..shopping, clubbing, chilling, beach. U cld go visit the neighbouring countries on weekends with the help of budget airlines(very cheap). Most Singaporeans who want to relax for the weekend like to go to Bintan(Indonesia), Batam(Indonesia), Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Genting. But if u have a couple of days off or if u dont mind rushing things u cld go to Krabi, Koh Samui, Phuket, Bangkok, Hong Kong etc.

Hope I was able to help!

No losty, my office standard working hour is 8.8 hour, translated into from 8.30 to 18.30. Bad eh? And the even worse coz my company pays me low salary.

Singapore has a sucky public transport system.. Had to say this after I've been to Hong Kong..
As for cars, its still the most expensive place in the world to obtain a car due to COE, road tax, etc..
The petrol price is outrageous too..

Oh come on, compared to some other places, our transportation system is excellent. Even the transport system in NYC can't beat it. It is so friggin disgusting to have rats in the same train ure on!

Spore is facing a shortage of workers. And if you cant get a job here, then I dont know what to say. Construction is booming. Govt just postponed 1.7b of project cuz construction material is under supply and contractors couldnt cope with massive inflow of project

I myself facing shortage of manpower. $2000 is you are lucky.....I pay minimum $2500. Wanna cum into engineering & construction??

Dont the economic crisis in 97 teach you anything bro...the moment you touch a book of what people write abt economics....what is said is already obselete....see the real world.....dun work for money....let money work for you
