i think watching them are helpful for your vietnamese speaking skills, and you learn new words, and the movies especially dramas teaches you stuff about life...
It's also good to entertain yourself when you have nothing to do, and if you live somewhere where theres no vietnamese people, it helps you keep and know the vietnamese language.

I personally think that they're pretty stupid. All those dramas are so boring and crappy looking that I even feel embarrased for those who watch it.

If you want to learn Vietnamese, then there are books or news online that you can read and Vietnamese movies other than Han, Tau, and Dai Loan (with all the crappy dramas) movies.

Boycott them all!

Damn dude stop hating, they are actually quite addicting. It doesnt matter if they are made in hong kong or dai loan, if its in vietnamese then all it teaches you is normal stuff in life, and vietnamese.

IT's not like your gonna be watching them in chinese.... or korean..

Nah, I am not hating them because they're Tau, or Han, or Dai Loan, I hate them because they're stupid (personal opinion). I just don't understand why some people can watch it as soon as they get home from work, from school, watch it all night long, all weekend and not learning one bit from it.

Don't get me wrong, when I was about 10, I used to watch them with my Mom, but now that it's so boring and time consuming that I'd rather throw up than sitting there and watch 1 second of the clip. Yuck!

Watch some American movies, at least they teach you about something about them, like language (English), and other stuffs. Watching phim Tau and Han is a complete waste of time.

But that's me.

There is a difference between American movies and Hongkong, Taiwan, Korean DRAMAS. You have to compare those dramas with American shows in primetime, not huge budgeted movies.

However, you can compare Korean and Chinese movies like My Sassy Girl, and Internal Affairs to American movies. Both were bought and being remade by American.

apparently hong kong is the best. The quality of the film is the best as well as the action and romance.

My family used to watch it, until they evolved to HK flicks

yea hong kong are the best, but korean damn, they come up with some good dramas, i mean sad @$$ ones lol..

I agree with Dai Viet on this. I feel insulted watching those. Those dramas are catered to housewives that are easily entertained. I used to watch it with my mom when I was little, though I always wonder why the men in the house never watch it. Now I understand why.
