Large volume of ancient coins found in Phu Yen

More than 50 kg of ancient coins contained in a big jar and buried one meter underground have been discovered in Tuy Hoa city of south-central Phu Yen province.

According to the Phu Yen Museum, the ancient coins are mostly Vietnamese Dong from the post- Le Dynasty, 200 years ago and some of them are Chinese currency from Zong and Ming Dynasties.

The museum is currently planning to collect more ancient coins for historic studies. After a long period of exploration. More than 1,000kg of valuable ancient coins have been found in the Phu Yen area.
