BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - State-owned China Southern Power Grid said it sold 268 mln kWh of electricity to Vietnam in June, up 320.34 pct year-on-year.

China Southern Power realized sales revenue of 12.05 mln usd from Vietnam during the month, the company said in a statement.

It also sold a total of 996 mln kWh to Vietnam in the first six months to June, booking a gain of 44.81 mln usd, the company noted.

China Southern now supplies electricity to Vietnam through two 220 kv and three 110 kv power grids, with supply output expected to surpass 2.5 bln kWh this year, it added.

The firm signed a 10-year 500 mln usd contract in Oct 2005 to sell electricity to the Vietnam National Power Co.

This is China's largest cross-country power transmission project to date.

That's too bad cause vietnam currently do not have enough electricity generating power to satisfy its usage.

China is building alot of mega Dams upstream of Vietnam's river in the higher plateau and they will become mega electricity generator.

Vietnam's first nuclear power plant to open in 2017
07:28' 14/05/2006 (GMT+7)
VietNamNet - Vietnam's first nuclear power plant will go into service in 2017, said the Director of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VAEI) in Hanoi on May 12.

The country's first atomic power plant will be located at Vinh Truong hamlet, Phuoc Dinh commune in Ninh Phuoc district of central coastal Ninh Thuan province, said VAEI Director Vuong Huu Tan at a press briefing to introduce an international exhibition on nuclear power scheduled to take place in Hanoi from May 16-19.

He added that the plant, designed to have two turbine groups, each with a capacity of 1,000 MW, will contribute 11% to the national power grid by 2025 and 30% by 2050.

On the international exhibition themed "Safety and Economic Competition of Nuclear Power 2006", the VAEI Director said the event will offer a valuable source of information on nuclear power in the world to local planners and scientists, helping them in developing proper schemes for the construction of the country's first nuclear power plant.

The Director said that the Republic of Korea, Russia, Japan and France will bring their technology and achievements in the field to the exhibition.
Vietnamese and international specialist will hold a dialogue relating to the topic of the exhibition and discuss issues of mutual concern at three other symposiums organised during the exhibition.

I don't see Chinese government complaining about buying coal at good price, looks like Ukraine still wants cheap gas from Russia. Coal is visible in Quang Ninh province, in many cases, you can buy a house and find black gold right in your own backyard. And what? An article stating that Chinese already paid higher than "on the spot" market price?? Sounds like those diggers of "The Heart of Ocean" diamond could instantly get rich. No surprise that a some Chinese are easy manipulated by their own media, but not even one rational thinking in that 3-page long thread over in Chinese chat is quite amazing.

Anywayz, Hafiz is just having fun posting controversial topics here and there. I don't mind him because he seems to know when to stop that fun.

ps: Chinese companies know too well that many sources that they are buying are illegal.
