AFC: Vietnam to co-host 2007 Asian Cup
Vietnam will co-host the 2007 Asian Cup with Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on Friday.
Each of the four nations will host a group of the qualifying round and a quarterfinal match, the AFC said, adding it will decide later on which countries will hold the opening match, the two semi-finals, the play off for third and fourth place and the final.
Under AFC's regulations, host countries will be exempted from the qualifying round, not defending champions.
The tournament is held every four years. Its schedule will be adjusted to avoid clashing with the Olympic Games and European Nations Cup. The tournament will return to its quadrennial schedule after 2007.
