I think its called cali or something in Vietnamese and the color of the soup is greenish-orange with meat, potatoes and onion skins. It tastes really awesome with toasted French bread cause the spice has a lot of flavor in it. Is it Vietnamese food? Its much better than the tomato soup version which is called la gue. My mom has made both kinds of soups.
from what you describe I think it's either cà ri, ga ru, or bò kho. They're pretty similar but bò kho is the best for me.
