Where were you when the communist took control of our countries or your families where there to witness this events. What did your families do afterward?
DAI_VIET
LOL. I can guarantee you that the majority of the Viets in here are less than 25 years old.

I wasn't born into this world during that time.
unattractiveguy
Just ask your parents what were they up to at the point of time.I'm pretty sure they will spill something up.

that's very poetic !

After Tết Mậu Thân in 1968, the French Embassy in Saigon had ordered all French residents in the city to leave. I was in Europe since mai 1970.

My dad stayed to fight for his convictions until the very end; in 1975, he was forced into the brutal reeducation camp for the next 7 years; I wasn't born until 9 years later.

I can tell you what my grandma went through. My grandma was clueless, she didn't even know the North invaded. She walked along the sidewalk and saw a whole bunch of soldiers taking off their uniform and throwing it on the side, then she went up to them and asked and they told her that president Minh has surrendered on the radio. Then as she walked a vc talked to her and asked her to take some bread home, she went home and about to take all her daughter and leave for the harbor, but she can't. My grandpa was still in the army and nowhere to be found, my oldest uncle was injured and was in a hospital in Bien Hoa, my other uncle, in the airforce, was no where to be found also. So she stayed and went to Bien Hoa instead to get my uncle.

I guess April 30th 1975 was a very chaotic day for all its Saigon citizens.
