The poverty rate in Vietnam has decreased from 58 percent in 1993 to just over 18 percent in 2006, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. The ministry also predicted that the ratio may decrease to as low as some 15 percent by the end of this year.

“There is still a need to address the poor and hungry in outlying areas, among ethnic minorities and the poorer sections of society,” Speedy stressed.

We need to curb poverty even more to curb human trafficking. Needless to say, we need to do whatever it takes for our minorities to be successful economically. The fact that they live in remote, hard to reach areas is a definite complicating factor but we'll have to keep trying until the end of time, if we have to.

Great news. I just hope the same thing happen to some other ASEAN nations.

By the way, I think, this trend, mainly because of that Vietnamese economics is booming, and people are getting jobs and works and they got paid.

One thing I admire about the people in Vietnam is that they work hard but they also play hard. And they play without worrying. Here, we play with our mortage, car payments, and credit bills in the back of our minds.
