Should Vietnam ban war movies about the Vietnam War? icon_smile.gif

As Vietnamese, don't we all get tired of watching war movies about the Vietnam War?

Please remember Vietnam is a country, not a war.

Considering that most American war movies didn't portray US involvement in Vietnam in a positive light...why should they?

The Hollywood and Mr. Olive Stone will make another Vietnam War movie about Vietnam.

While I understand that Hollywood has the rights to make whatever movies that they want to make,

however, how many more Vietnam War movies do we need? Vietnam and Vietnamese people should

protest this continuation of stereotyping Vietnam as a war.

Please remember Vietnam is a country, not a war.

LOS ANGELES: The rest of Hollywood might be training their camera lenses on the war in Iraq, but veteran director Oliver Stone is preparing to re-enlist for Vietnam, it was reported Tuesday.

Stone, who won best director Oscars for his Vietnam War-related dramas "Platoon" and "Born on the Fourth of July," is planning a new film about the investigation into the 1968 My Lai massacre, Daily Variety reported.

No, Vietnam has never had a problem with American flooding our market with movies from their point of view. In contrast, I'm pretty sure American would ban any movie from the Vietnamese's point of view regarding this issue.

Only insecured nation and people would try to flood our market with their products but at the same time ban our product from entering their market and Vietnam definiitely does not want to become a nation like that.

Ban VN war movies? What are you? Chinese?

If its a documentary with bull$hit then I'll have a problem with. A movie? not so much...

I don't know about you but I enjoy watching Rambo, the movies were baddass.

There is so much about Vietnam from ancient time until now that we can learn and appreciate. icon_smile.gif

For profit, the Hollywood only makes Vietnam War movies.

However, as Vietnamese, if we pay money to see Vietnam War movies, that is shameful.

Unless we stand up and say "no," then nothing will ever change.

Actually, Oliver Stone is going to make a movie about the My Lai massacre. I don't think that would sit well with the American public. I don't like Vietnam war movies because it never seems to depict Vietnam in a positive light, but then again the only reason Hollywood makes movies about Vietnam is because of the war, not because Vietnam is a country and an insignificant country in the minds of many Americans.

Letting the US spread their one-sided propaganda through movies is not fun. kiss.gif

Watching too much Vietnam War movies made by the US will brainwash you to think GI Joes were good guys and we were bad guys.

a real money maker would be a Vietnam made story from our point of view, the same goes for Iraq.

Let the Public make their own decisions.

Viets are very curious.................If you ban it; we 're going to find a way to watch it.

Oliver Stone's movies are mostly pro-Vietnam. He portrays the NVA as tough, tenacious fighters.

For example; in the movie, Platoon, he shows 1 NVA Soldier with a sack of TNT rushing into the US Army HQ.......and

blowing it up, himself included.
