Japanese company to expand investment in HCM City

HCM City, July 23 (VNA) - Japan's Nidec company plans to invest 200 million USD in Ho Chi Minh City's hi-tech zone before 2006.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect is expected to be signed in HCM City on Friday between the Hi-tech Zone Management Board and Nidec Chairman Shigenobu Nagamori.
Nagamori is leading a Nidec delegation to Viet Nam. His visit is aimed at preparing for the company's expanded investment in HCM City.
Meeting with Secretary of the city's Party Committee Nguyen Minh Triet on Thursday, Nagamori said his company will increase its investment, focusing on hi-tech projects. He stressed that those projects will not only create jobs for between 5,000 and 10,000 workers but also help transfer modern technology to the city, asking HCM City to further improve its investment environment.
The municipal Party official welcomed Nidec's decision and affirmed the city's determination to improve its investment environment to facilitate investment from Japan.
