Do you think it will be after the year 2020?

For Vietnamese youth who were born after 1975 in the late 1970s and 1980s,

after 2020, they will be in their 40s?

At that age, will they allowed to take leadership role in Vietnam?

For example, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung was born in 1949.

I really don't think when you were born determines anything. To be able to get to the top levels of Gov you need to join the Communist Party pretty early in life. Then it is years and years of 'brainwash', years and years of obedience, and years and years of dodgy governence....

You need to be 'mentored' by one of the old guard and also favoured by them. So if you think that a young guy can come in with new ideas, new western concepts and new ways... and rise to the top......then think again!!

You make a good point. icon_smile.gif

Hopefully, after 2020, Vietnam will elect more leaders depending on their ability and intelligence.

Not exactly. I can already see that Vietnam's current Prime Minister is very reform-minded, despite his age.

What specific steps does he implement to combat corruption in Vietnam?

Well, that is hard to say. But from what I see, he has a very harsh stance on corruption. As Vietnam has just inaugurated a 10-man anti-corruption committee led by the Prime Minister himself.

Corruption here is fought with more corruption. Sure they might find the ocassional scapegoat, but really, who in their right minds is willing to go out and 'upset' a win-win situation. Corrupt people/businesses will always have to pay a cut to someone higher than them, so ultimately if the PM is the highest and in theory always getting a cut of deals, well, it would be silly him to short change himself. Don't you think?.

Only a corrupted mind would think like that thumbsdown.gif
That is why there are such things as muckrakers in this world. But when it comes down to it all, it is up to people higher than you to decide whether they are corrupt or not, as you can do nothing but suffer, or try to expose it like the muckrakers.

It would be silly to just infer that someone is going to be corrupted because of mere animal instincts. We are humans with minds and logic, and if we give into corruption, it would only make us animals, or that money means more than our future and goals.

When I think about it, being the Prime Minister today would already make you Very rich compared to the neighborhood. You see the people of all classes, from rich to poor. But if you look in the faces of those who have suffered under years of corruption, you would feel for them. It is your job to make the country better, and the people's lives along with it. And if you don't and you prefer fulfilling your own personal greed over making things better, then you're a corrupted @$$hole.

In the end, we just got to ask ourselves what is more important. When you are higher than everyone else, whats stopping you?
All for one and one for all, or just all for one guy who just takes it all for himself.
