Hi all! Anh c khoe khng? Right now, Im working on a comic, and one of the characters came from Vietnam. However, Im not familiar with Vietnamese culture, so I really need your help to give a name to my character (a boy). Im thinking of him as some kind of high-spirited main character. Ive already got a name that I like from the internet, Tran Duc Duong. Please tell me what you think of this name, especially if you think the name is in any way offending or inappropriate. Also, I want to know, which one is the first name, and which one is the surname in Tran Duc Duong? If you want, you can recommend names that you think would be more suitable.

Thank you in advance for your help! Cảm ơn rất nhiều!

Hi !

I don't like the name "Tran Duc Duong" so much, it sounds so simple, it's no special thing. For a high-spirited main character, I think the name" H Vy Thọai" is very suitable to your comic biggthumpup.gif (j/k). Here are my suggestions for your character's name : "Hạ Tuấn" (maybe called nickname "Tuấn đinh"), or "Quang To" (nickname), or "Minh bựa" (nickname)

doung is the first name and tran is the last name.

that names seems fine but I would recommend a name that is easier to pronounce in the western world if this is your audience.

*Minh Tran (pronounced Min)
*Thai Tran (prounounced Ty)
*Khai Tran (pronounced Ky)

hope that helps.

@havythoai: I'm sorry, but I don't get it. What did you mean by nickname? Did you mean if someone has a name of "Hạ Tuấn", you can call him with "Tuấn đinh"? And where's the surname? H Vy Thọai is a cool name! You are a boy, right?

@nammergirl: Thanks, but I don't think that name is hard to pronounce icon_wink.gif I could be wrong.... and where are the surnames in those names you gave me?

@Huynh: Is Huynh Mai Vo your name? I think it's a cool alternative, I hope you'll let me use them icon_smile.gif

@s2hurt and AsianStar: Thanks for giving me alternatives! Where's the surname in "Cao Dung"?

@kedirong: I'm afraid you're confusing me embarassedlaugh.gif

PS: Those are all boy's names, right?
