I think Vietnamese is not that hard to learn once you know the accent marks. Many people have trouble learning Vietnamese because they don't know how to use the accent marks properly.

There are many Laotian students in Vietnam. There are even foreign student dorm in Institute of Foreign Affair where many Laotian and Cambodian students stay. Many fall in love and get married with Vietnamese girls. I heard some high-ranking Laotian officials have Vietnamese wives. This guy is a student and he participated in one of the Vietnamese game show on television which is called \"The Game of Music\" (Trò chơi âm nhạc). Laotian people are incredibly nice people. I once ran into someone which I first thought is a Vietnamese because his Vietnamese is so perfect but later he told me that he studied in Vietnam before.

For the Lao people who don't understand the first couple of verse of the song that they ask him to sing it more clearly at the end. It talk about how he want to assure his parent who are at home far away, that he is doing fine and that he is happy.

Like I said before, I don't care if you're Lao, Thai, Cambodian, Korean, or whatever. Before debuting in a country that is not your own, at least you can do is learn how to speak the language correctly so that it doesn't sounds like you're a child learning how to speak for the first time.
