The Asian Development Bank (ADB) reckons that deep poverty in Vietnam—defined as a daily income equivalent to under $1—is now only slightly more prevalent than the average for South-East Asia, whereas in 1990 Vietnam's figure was more than twice the regional average (see charts). By this measure, Vietnam has overtaken China, India and the Philippines and now has only slightly more poverty than Indonesia.
Seems like Vietnam is now eradicating deep poverty and is now on par with that for the rest of SEA and even lower than China, India and Phillipines.
Of course, I still don't accept this. I think Vietnam can do better. I hope one day all Vietnamese around the world will contribute more money and investment to the motherland and eradicate poverty even more and make Ho Chi Minh's dream of making Vietnam a beautiful country come true.
Lets show the world that wars and economic sanctions can't keep us down as long as we have the will to fight.
