IF the president of Vietnam and the its assembly decide to give back Southern Vietnam to Cambodia, what would they do with the Vietnamese living there? Ethnic Kinh of Vietnam's population alone in Saigon is about 5-6 millions (in the future it would be probably more than that), not counting other cities in Southern Vietnam. Basically, Cambodia will be made up 50% to 70% ethnic Vietnamese. Will Cambodia "deport" those Vietnamese out, which by nature is violating their rights, since a lot of them are native there? Or will Cambodian government will commit genocide like you did to your own people once?
Supernovasp, interesting scenario you are presenting there. Actually, there is already a plan to run Southern Vietnam should it be converted to the Khmer rule once again. For your information, there is already a new flag, a system of government, and other essential governmental elements. From what I understand, the new Southern Vietnam under the Khmer rule will look pretty much like the country of Canada. The Khmer people whom I am referring to here are not the ones of Cambodia, but the multilingual Khmer Krom people of Kampuchea Krom (Southern Vietnam) who will run Southern Vietnam.
The Khmer people are the kindest and the most tolerant people in the whole world to their ethnic minorities. International news reports of ethnic minority groups from neighboring countries streaming into Cambodia. This says a lot about the Khmer folks and the Khmer nation. Of all the various ethnic minorities, why are the Vietnamese still the national issue within the Khmer society? I personally read online about how mockingly and degradingly the ethnic Vietnamese settlers in Cambodia said about the Cambodians in general. The simple solution for those anti-Khmer Vietnamese is simple: If you don't want to have anything to do with the Cambodians, then simply leave and go somewhere else. The Khmer folks can tolerate and appreciate any ethnic group that wants to help contribute the prosperity and security of the nation, but should any ethnic group decides to undermine that national goal, then it is only right that those obstructionists must be reprimanded.
Please note that, according to history, the earliest genocidal programs implemented against the Khmer people were done by both the Viet and Thai conquerors. The Khmer folks are still the most honorable people in the entire Southeast Asia. Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge regime were not elements of the traditional Cambodian perspective.
