US$250 million casino to take shape in Da Nang

A US$250 million casino for foreign expatriates will be built in Lang Van tourist resort in Hoa Hiep ward, Lien Chieu district, in central Da Nang city.

The Municipal People’s Committee has allowed Hanoi’s Quang Dai Joint Stock Company to implement the project on an area of 300ha. The Committee has asked authorised agencies to grant the investment license to the contractor, and create favourable conditions for land acquisition.

Good , they should not let the locals gamble beerchug.gif

Will they let Vietnamese foreigners play like me? Well I don't gamble since I think it's sinful.

I think Vietnam is following Cuba in isolating the tourist from the people so the tourist won't be affected by harsh communist laws.

Like in Cuba, tourist get their own separate section and don't have a limit on how much food they are allowed to buy unlike the locals there.

Yup, their purpose is to attract foreign gambers and the tourism dollars, not breaking Vietnamese homes.
Byron
I guess they want Vietnam to have a clean image and not let the homeless go anywhere near them I guess.

Considering nguoi Vietnam "co mau do den", it's all good that they're kept away from the casino. beerchug.gif

Another of your theory sure.gif Like the tourists don't see the homeless and the poor when they go to Saigon, Hue, Hanoi and everywhere else in Vietnam.
Byron
Yeah but casinos are different. They want people to be more happy and thus spend more money and homeless people hanging around would make the gamblers more sad and thus stay away from the place.

Looking at any idea no matter how simple with complexity and awareness can really help you in life.

That type of thinking allows you to be steps ahead of your enemy or competitor and lets you see many new solutions for solving problems.

Look at the world in more than one perspective and you can never go back. beerchug.gif

That is true. But there is a fine line between being constructively critical and plain paranoia. beerchug.gif

LOL not exactly. I live in Sydney and Starcity (casino) is mostly frequented Chinese out of all the Asian ethnicities. They're usually are old Chinese ladies on pension, young overseas Chinese students and the rest are local Chinese.

You just need to look at Macau and see how much they're into gambling. Thais are also big gamblers as well.

Vietnamese are also gamblers, but usually they play pokers (doesn't lose as much given time factor is constant) and playing cards at home. Sometimes my uncle goes to his friend's house to play Tien Len (13 cards) and Kach Te on the weekends to relax. About 4 bucks around, not much. Sometimes win, sometimes lose. They also have beers and snacks while playing.

My dad is not really a gambler. I usually play on Vietnamese New Year (tet).
KokDahkJeE
really, becasue like on the travel channel

world poker tour

i see a lot of vietnamese people who play and get to the final table, just not win ...lol

I believe the most gambling culture would be the Scottish and Irish.
Don't remember where I heard that but I do remember hearing that.
I think gambling is fun, and theres nothing wrong with it if you are smart about it icon_wink.gif
