I am writing you to bring to your attention of His Imperial Highness Prince Buu Chanh of Vietnam that has been living in the United States since being exiled from Vietnam in 1975.

Prince Buu Chanh is leading an organization called the Vietnamese Constitutional Monarchist League that is attempting to peacefully form a transitional government for Vietnam so a democratic dual party system can be possible under a Constitutional Monarchy to liberate the Vietnamese people, which King Sihanouk of Cambodia has succeeded with the help of the United Nations to mandate a democratic election and the people chose to form a Constitutional Monarchy Government in 1993.

His Imperial Highness Prince Buu Chanh of Vietnam was recently awarded The Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom. The Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom has also been awarded to Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and General Norman Schwarzkopf, which is the highest and most prestigious American decoration awarded to civilians.

Former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole and Senator Alphonse M. D'Amato awarded Prince Buu Chanh with a personalized Eternal Flame of Freedom Brass Medallion and was nominated to have his name engraved on the Ronald Wilson Reagan Eternal Flame of Freedom monument in Washington DC.

Also attached to this letter is a website about Prince Buu Chanh containing information concerning his struggle to politically pressure the Communist Government in Vietnam, so that you may familiarize yourself with his campaign and notice that you both share common goals concerning the Liberty and Rights of the people of Vietnam.

Here is a link concerning Prince Buu Chanh's agenda:

Having a "constitutional monarchy" in Vietnam is definitely interesting, but yea I don't think his agenda will work. (but you never know)

You might as well say you hate everything Vietnamese.

I'm not sure a constitutional monarchy will work in Vietnam now though. Unlike other countries, we've been absent of an emperor for so long and this is the 21st century, it's gone so it's probably be gone forever.

And yes it'd probably be cool, but then I don't want the Vietnamese tax money going to these people for nothing, like like the royalty of Britain, Japan and so many other countries. They need a run for their money.

This prince guy is working with King Sihanok. I wouldn't be surprised that if he got power once again he would give a part of South Vietnam back which is why the Cambodians are working so hard with him.

Remember how Russia lost lands when the Soviet Union collapsed, the same thing might happen to Vietnam if the communist government were removed from power. Then we might have to give up lands.

You're raising my ire Byron. Where did you get this $hit from? Do you even know what is a constitutional monarchy? The monarch will wield no power except for ceremonial purpose. I live in Australia, I know.

And what kind of a stupid fu-k do you think he is? Giving away south Vietnam will spell his death sooner than he could utter such words. And how is that possible? Do you think the 35 million Vietnamese in southern Vietnam would allow it?

If Southern Vietnam is incorporated into Cambodia, we would make up 70-75% of the population. Then we'll be taking over Cambodia without them realising it. Hmmm actually I want it now. LOL

Yes. And Australia's head of state is the HRH Queen Elizabeth II, represented in Australia by Governor General Michael Jeffrey. So I know what are the roles of the constitutional monarch and their limitations. The real power would ultimately be wield by a Prime Minister (No president in monarchy).

I've actually seen Viet-Ams desparate enough to be willing to work with Khmer Krom organizations to try to get rid of the communist regime.

Now why would the Khmer Krom organizations want to work with the Viet-am? They aren't working for nothing, it's obvious they want South Vietnam and I agree it would be ridiculous to give away all of it.

I think they want maybe some of South Vietnam back, it would be ridiculous to give the whole thing back.

I sure as hell don't want to support any group that is working with Cambodians.  Just look at the kind of posts they write, they obvious hate Vietnamese and when you see one working with Viet-Ams, you don't know for sure what agenda they have.

You really sound like the current Vietnamese goverment

embarassedlaugh.gif icon_smile.gif Oh well.

Anyway back on topic. I think the age of Emperors and Empresses have passed. Vietnam needs to be ruled by many individuals who can vote on each measure and decide what is best for Vietnam.

One day the current Vietnamese government will realize that, the current ones are the old farts who are just to stubborn.

Let us wait for the young ones to take power.

When all hope is lost, there will always be future generations to repair it.

I honestly don't think the majority of Cambodians want S.Vietnam, there's no point for them to own the land when the majority are Vietnamese who rather be Vietnamese.

Like all Emperors before that of the Nguyen, his dynasty has fallen to the humiliations of the result of war. His dynasty has been defeated, and his right to the thrown has been ripped from him, THAT is reality. THAT is truth, he no longer has any right on the Vietnamese throne. He has as much right on the throne as the Le family did in Vietnam after the Nguyen themselves came to power. They have as much right to the Vietnamese throne as the Ly family did after the Tran family ripped it from them and started the Tran dynasty. It's that simple, they no longer have a nation to rule nor the right to do it.

Just saying. BUT, if it did happen, damn it would be fricken cool. Vietnamese nationalism would go up, because there would, once again, be a family to pledge our loyalties to, kind of like how the Japanese are so strongly loyal to their monarch and their nation. It would probably raise our overall nationalism everywhere. Either that or it'll bring resentment like the British monarch, i live in Canada, and the Queen and Governor General are totally useless, they don't have any true power even though maintaining them costs more than it does to pay the Prime Minister to do his job (who actually has power). But having a monarch is part of our identity, and i'm personally against getting rid of them, but deep inside, man they're useless. The Queen hasn't step foot on Canada for a while either, so the situation could be really different from Vietnam, if the Nguyen become the reigning family once again, they better renounce their American citizenship and live forever in Vietnam. It's called loyalty to ones nation (the ultimate kind expected from the ruler of Vietnam atleast).

lol, my sister said the prince on the far right is pretty cute. No super hot princess though, oh well, they're kind of cute, good enough for royalty (don't expect them to be superstars or models)... lol Does anyone have more pics of them? Would be interesting to look at. Other royal families or from other Nguyen dynasty branches would be nice too, i can't find this stuff, i suck at finding pics of royal family, so thanks....

I mean how can the khmer help us anyway? What can they do? Nothing!! It is the Vietnamese that can change thing, not a few khmer krom who don't have any number in Vietnam anyway. So basicly, it is a waste of time.

It's 2006. We don't need any more royalty. Royalty is just a waste of money. Should have effective government that serves the people.

Unfortunately, these so called royals don't bring any new ideas to improve Viet Nam and then claim they have the right to rule.

The Nguyen dynasty's supremely incompetent, short sighted and narrow minded leadership was a major contributor to the French takeover of Vietnam. I owe this dynasty nothing, and I want to have nothing to do with them.

The commies are just like royalties. The communist party has the monopoly on power without ever being accountable to anyone. They are as bad as the middle eastern dictators or royals
YouStink
The decay of the Vietnamese kingdom started during the reign of Gia Long and became irreversible from then on. The dynasty was extremely narrowminded and arrogant to the point that it was oblivious to the French threat and though that outdated Vietnamese muskets and cannons would hold out against French cannons, guns and warships. So sad.

I'm not sure from which dynasty, but a relative of one of the Vietnamese royal familes lives in Australia too. I don't know she's made it well known though. Apparently anyone with her surname is of that royal family and it's meant to be very rare.

Precisely, Vietnam needs good leadership and people who bring no new ideas can not contribute anything better. We are simply swapping one lot with another with nothing changes.

There were many good leaders in the old times. Any ideas where they have gone. All finished off during the wars, communism etc.... ?

Well, if there was to be another monarchy, why not have another family that have never been on the throne before, like "the Pham Dynasty!"
